Non-CDL Driver (Part-Time)

Terms of Employment: Part-time, 174 days, 4 hours per day. Salary is based on experience and per our Classified Salary Schedule (Non CDL Drivers $20.11 - $30.68). This position does not qualify for benefits.

Position Purpose: Under the general supervision of the Transportation Director, to ensure the safe transportation of students, staff, and others to and from school, residential neighborhoods, and field trips.

Summary: Responsible for driving students to and from schools located outside of the Weld RE-5J School District. Other routes may be assigned that do not require a CDL driver. Some of these routes may span a distance of greater than 50 miles (one-way).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Drive routes that do not require a CDL
• Maintain and promote professional defensive driving attitude
• Daily pre and post trip inspections
• Maintain proper student discipline per Board policy
• Maintain appropriate communication with supervisor, school and parents regarding student behavior
• Assist transportation department with other duties, including utility work such as cleaning vehicles, building, and equipment, etc.
• Attend work and arrive in a timely manner
• Perform other duties as assigned

Confidential Information:

• Staff members shall not access, receive, transmit or retransmit material regarding students, parents/guardians or district employees that is protected by confidentiality laws.
• If material is not legally protected but is of a confidential or sensitive nature, great care shall be taken to ensure that only those with a "need to know" are allowed access to the material.
• Staff members shall handle all employee, student, and district records in accordance with applicable district policies.
• Staff members who intentionally disclose student records, other confidential student information and/or district information may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

Education and Related Work Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience driving students preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

• Criminal background check
• Valid Colorado Driver's License
• Current first aid and CPR card
• Employee could be subject to drug and alcohol screening
• Small Vehicle Training Completed within one month of hire

• Ability to use District computer systems for basic word processing, e-mail, and data entry, as well as record work hours and/or absences on District time management programs
• Ability to maintain professional working relationships with all District staff and community members and be part of a team

• Ability to effectively communicate with parents, staff, and community
• Ability to participate and working a team environment.
