Packaging Machine Operator - Plymouth, IN

Location: Plymouth, IN Pay Starting at $21.50/hr – night shift has $1.00 differential. Bi‑weekly pay. $500 sign‑on bonus for eligible candidates. Plant operates on various schedules determined by candidate preference and plant needs. 2‑2‑3 schedule: 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off rotation. Working 3‑4 days/week (e.g., Sun, Wed, Thu one week; Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat the next). Candidate Process Communication will be through phone, email, and text. Summary As a Packaging Machine Operator (PMO), you will set up, oversee, and maintain packaging machines to ensure proper quality and packaging of the finished product. You will perform housekeeping, assist other PMO’s and supervisors, and complete sanitation duties. You will also troubleshoot, train, and perform basic maintenance tasks. Duties And Responsibilities Follow company GMPs. Check gram weight on Ishida operation terminal. Clear weigher faults. Keep all formers and film off the floor. Empty machines when shutting down. Operate video jet printers and change printer ribbon when needed. Perform timely changeovers. Tear down and set up machine. Operate fastback systems, weighers, and packing equipment. Ensure all required paperwork is completed. Ensure all bags are running correct weights. Ensure all bags are in registration, both in cutoff and side‑to‑side registration. Ensure each bag is code‑dated properly with price and date legible and in proper position on the face of the bag. Ensure bags are sealed properly and that bag appearance is acceptable. Add/remove air from bags and ensure proper air fill. Change knife blades. Change bag speed in packaging machines and weighers, ensuring running rates based on lead label. Keep machines clean and ensure the area under and around the machine is clean, helping to sweep the packing area. Weigh defected film, record defect, and place film in the defective area provided. Keep feeds, dispersion table, scales, etc., free from buildup. Perform hourly metal detector checks as required. Report any findings, false activations, or other concerns to management immediately and help with investigation. Ensure all paperwork is completed (film verifications, sanitation and 5S paperwork, etc.). Complete all required trainings. Communicate with all team members, including bakers, leads, packers, PMO’s, QC, PC, maintenance, and supervisors. Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Follow all safety and general work rules and policies. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or GED. Ability to read, write and comprehend English. Proficiency in basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division in metric and SAE units). Ability to solve practical problems and handle situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form. Must pass FSQS 1.4.21 PMO Skills and Knowledge Assessment test and FSQS PMO Training qualification checklist. Clear understanding of how to safely operate packaging machinery and use hand tools and equipment.
