Speech Language Pathologist-Riverside Area area Job Category : Administrative Requisition Number : SPEEC002385 Posted : September 5, 2025 Full-Time On-site Locations Showing 1 location Downey, CA 90241, USA Description POSITION SUMMARY The speech-language pathologist is responsible for the implementation of standards of care for speech-language pathology services and for adherence to all conditions in the Service Agreement. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Conducts appropriate evaluations, assesses home environment (as appropriate), and identifies equipment needs relative to speech/language function. Identifies functional speech defects and establishes a plan of care to improve the patient’s function. Administers speech therapy program utilizing specialized therapeutic techniques and/or equipment. Recommends communication devices/aids as indicated. Confers with referring physician and other organization personnel to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care contributes to the total plan of care. As appropriate, participates in case conferences, in-services, and other meetings required to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care. Prepares and submits notes per organization policy. Maintains clinical competency in speech-language pathology practice and theory. Identifies patient and family/caregiver needs for other services and refers as appropriate. Instruct patient, family/caregiver, and other Organization health care personnel in the patient’s treatment regime as indicated. May supervise home health aide in procedures directly related to the speech-language therapy plan of care. Performs other duties as required to facilitate the delivery of speech-language pathology services. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES The incumbent in this position does not have any direct supervision. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS Possesses a master’s or doctoral degree in speech-language pathology (SLP), and who meets either of the following requirements: A. Completion of a 300-hour supervised clinical practice with a wide variety of ages and communication disorders under the direction of an educational institution approved by the Board. B. Evidence of completion of no less than 36 weeks of supervised professional fulltime experience or 72 weeks of professional part-time experience obtained under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist. C. Passage of a Board-approved examination. A minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience in Speech-Language Pathology. Possesses and maintains current CPR/First Aid certification and negative TB skin test or chest x-ray. Must have a valid in-state driver’s license, provide current registration and insurance, and have a driving record. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Demonstrates good verbal and written communication, and organization skills. Must have the ability to work with adults, demonstrate tact and patience, and be self directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision. Strong understanding of speech-related conditions, causes, and treatments. Excellent coaching and verbal and written communication skills.
