This role focuses on assembling large mechanical structures and components, including valves, coils, and other major mechanical parts, with a smaller portion of basic electrical assembly. You will work as part of a team at a dedicated assembly station to build oversized modules constructed from structural tubes, integrating mechanical and electrical elements according to detailed engineering documentation. The position requires comfort with fast-paced, repetitive work in a manufacturing environment while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical assembly of valves, coils, bus ducts, air handlers, cable trays, pipes, sheet metal, and other large structural mechanical parts.
• Install components into oversized structural tube modules, working on assemblies comparable in size to an 18-wheeler.
• Work at a fixed assembly station rather than on a conveyor belt, completing assigned builds from start to finish as part of a team.
• Carry out basic electrical assembly tasks, including pulling wire and assisting with installation of bus bars, bus ducting, cable trays, and conduit.
• Read and interpret blueprints, bills of materials (BOM), P&IDs, work orders, and work instructions, and clearly communicate these requirements to team members.
• Use hand tools such as drills, caulking guns, grinders, torque wrenches, levels, and measuring tapes to assemble and secure components.
• Operate or assist with machines such as large band saws, pipe bevellers, and magnetic drills as needed for cutting, preparing, and fitting materials.
• Follow mass production or high-volume manufacturing processes to meet output targets while maintaining quality and consistency.
• Adhere to safety procedures in a busy manufacturing environment with forklifts, overhead cranes, and nearby welding operations.
• Maintain an organized work area, ensure proper handling and storage of tools and materials, and support continuous improvement of assembly processes.

Essential Skills

• Proven mechanical assembly experience working with valves, coils, and large structural mechanical parts.
• Experienced in mass production or high-volume manufacturing environments.
• Experience using hand tools such as drills, caulking guns, grinders, torque wrenches, levels, and measuring tapes.
• Experience operating or supporting machines such as large band saws, pipe bevellers, and magnetic drills.
• Ability to perform work that is approximately 90% mechanical assembly and 10% basic electrical tasks.
• Basic electrical experience, including pulling wire and assisting with conduit installation.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, bills of materials (BOM), P&IDs, work orders, and work instructions.
• Strong communication skills to relay technical information and instructions to team members.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, repetitive manufacturing environment while maintaining accuracy and quality.
• Ability to work safely around forklifts, overhead cranes, and welding operations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience as a mechanical assembler, mechanical technician, valve technician, or in electro-mechanical assembly roles.
• Experience in environments similar to large-scale fabrication, energy, or industrial manufacturing operations.
• Familiarity with assembling complex modules or large mechanical systems built from structural tubing.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based assembly setting.

Work Environment

The position is based in a manufacturing facility with concrete flooring and open bay doors, resulting in a non-climate-controlled environment. You will work at a dedicated assembly station rather than on a conveyor line, alongside a team of assemblers and technicians. The shop floor is active, with forklifts and overhead cranes moving materials frequently, and some areas may include welding operations nearby. You will regularly use a variety of hand tools and larger machines such as band saws, pipe bevellers, and magnetic drills. The environment suits individuals who are comfortable with an industrial setting, can maintain situational awareness around heavy equipment, and can perform repetitive, fast-paced work safely and efficiently.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $25.00/hr.
