Quad is currently seeking a Second Shift Offset Sheetfed Platemaker at its Franklin, WI plant. Entry level and willing to train. The offset plate maker is responsible for overseeing the plate-making process, including but not limited to, generating impositions from single-page files, creating plates, troubleshooting issues, inspecting for quality, and working with internal customers to support the printing process. Wage ranges: $17.50 up to $24.00/hr depending on experience.If you enjoy seeing products, come together from start to finish, Franklin is the place for you. This modern packaging facility produces folding cartons and blister cards using advanced printing and finishing equipment. Available shifts include: First shift: Monday - Friday 5 am – 1pm Second Shift: Monday - Friday 1pm - 9 pm +$3.00 premium - Confirm accuracy and completeness of job orders. - Build computer to plate CTP layouts. Verify accuracy and any defects. - Perform coating blanket manufacturing tasks as required. - Stage Plate Carts per schedule with necessary items for press production. This would include inks, plates, coating blankets, job orders, artwork, samples, etc. - Responsible for maintaining and upkeep of artwork proof filing system both pre and postproduction. - Protect client products and aid Quad in securing and maintaining key industry certifications through consistent adherence to quality, satisfaction, and excellence standards represented by AIB International, cGMP, FSC Chain of custody, ISO, and SFI Chain-of-Custody certifications. - Internal & External Plate and Ink Suppliers' Responsibilities. - Plate and Ink room responsibilities include, assisting with maintaining, organizing, staging, ordering the necessary supplies for both rooms. - Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot plate room equipment. This includes working with and around plate processing chemicals. - Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. - Crosstrain as assigned. - Know and follow Standard Operating Procedures. - Follow all safety policies and procedures. - All Packaging employees must: Follow and comply with all food safety and quality policies. Report any food safety issues or concerns to the Site Leadership Team. - Maintain production records following Good Documentation Practices. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Have basic knowledge of Windows and Macintosh computers. - Must be able to set up and maintain the automated platemaker. - Have strong math skills, and good verbal and written communication. - Be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. - Knowledge of press operations is a plus. - Familiarity with paperboard carton production and processing is a plus. Understand input, output, raw material, waste, quality control, cost, and techniques for maximizing the manufacturing and distribution of goods process. - Knowledge of design techniques, principles, tools, and instruments involved in the production and use of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. - Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine the root cause. - Ability to lift 10-15 pounds continuously, ability to lift to 50 pounds occasionally, sitting and standing for long hours (8-hour shift), use hands and wrists continuously in controlled movement, receive and follow instructions, and use vision to identify defects.We're looking for dependable people who want more than just a job.
