VTL Machinist

The machinist will operate manual vertical turning lathes and other machine-shop equipment to repair precision aerospace components. - Operate horizontal and manual vertical lathes (VTLs). - Use milling machines, grinders, jig borers, Bridgeports, drill presses, and other specialized equipment. - Read blueprints, engineering drawings, process travelers, manuals, and specifications. - Determine dimensions, tolerances, machining sequences, and setup requirements. - Measure, mark, and scribe parts before machining. - Modify materials and components, inspect finished work, identify defects, and perform machine maintenance.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Requirements


Direct manual VTL or vertical turning lathe experience Experience At least 2 years of machining experience Education High school diploma or equivalent Equipment Experience using different types of machine tools and equipment Blueprint reading Ability to interpret drawings, dimensions, and tolerances Math skills Basic arithmetic, including decimals and fractions, and understanding specifications Communication Ability to speak, read, and write English Physical ability Lift 25 pounds from floor to waist and from waist to shoulder; pull up to 40 pounds
