Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry

The Telemetry Unit is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional patient care during night shifts. The ideal candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, managing a diverse patient population with both acute and chronic medical conditions, including post-surgical patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to a mix of telemetry and MedSurg patients.
• Monitor patients' vital signs and cardiac rhythms using GE monitors.
• Administer medications, including set rate drips such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Heparin, without titration.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Conduct bedside shift reports and engage in intentional hourly rounding.
• Participate in patient education regarding medication side effects and post-operative care.
• Maintain adherence to evidence-based practices and uphold patient safety standards.

Shift Details

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift: Nights, including Every Other Weekend (EOW), with first to float requirement.
• Weekend Requirements: 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week schedule.
• Holiday Requirements: Minimum of 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year.
• Self-scheduling is allowed, with shifts starting at 7 PM and ending at 7:30 AM.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 2 years of nursing experience, preferably with telemetry and MedSurg patient populations.
• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Cerner experience is preferred.
• Must be able to read and interpret cardiac rhythms independently.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Telemetry with 32 private beds.
• Nurse: Patient Ratios: 1:4 for telemetry patients; 1:5 for MedSurg patients unless the team is mixed.
• RT equipment available includes CPAP and BiPAP, based on orders.
• Nurse aides are available based on the census.

Floating Requirements

Travelers may be required to float to other MedSurg and Tele units or to the ICU for MedSurg Tele patients, as well as to the ER for MedSurg Tele holds. Flexibility is essential.

Dress Code

The required scrub color is navy blue. Undershirts and jackets must adhere to the same color scheme, and hoodies or sweatshirts are not permitted.

Additional Information

This unit values a warm and welcoming atmosphere with a strong focus on excellence in patient care. Attendance is strictly monitored, and punctuality is expected. New hires will receive orientation consisting of 1-2 shifts with a preceptor to familiarize themselves with unit protocols and practices.
