Overview Senior Associate, Data Scientist - Cash Flow Underwriting. As a Data Scientist at Capital One, you’ll be part of a team that operates at scale to unlock opportunities that help everyday people save money, time and effort in their financial lives. Team Description We are looking for highly analytical Data Scientists to join our Cash Flow Underwriting Team. This role centers on leveraging advanced machine learning techniques to identify and engineer predictive signals that power risk and usage models. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of data and advanced machine learning skills to uncover patterns in cash flow and transaction data. You will transform raw banking data into high-value features that forecast creditworthiness and customer behavior. Role Description In this role, you will: Partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver a product customers love Leverage a broad stack of technologies — Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, and more — to reveal insights within large volumes of numeric and textual data Build machine learning models through all phases of development, from design through training, evaluation, validation, and implementation Translate the complexity of your work into tangible business goals The Ideal Candidate is Innovative. You continually research and evaluate emerging technologies and stay current on state-of-the-art methods, technologies, and applications. Creative. You thrive on solving big, undefined problems and are willing to share new ideas. Technical. You are comfortable with open-source languages and have hands-on experience developing data science solutions using open-source tools and cloud computing platforms. Statistically-minded. You’ve built and validated models, understand evaluation metrics like confusion matrices and ROC curves, and have experience with clustering, classification, sentiment analysis, time series, and deep learning. A data guru. You can retrieve, combine, and analyze data from various sources and structures, and understanding the data is key to great data science. Basic Qualifications Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, one of the following with an expectation of degree completion by the start date: a Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field plus 2 years of data analytics experience, or a Master’s Degree in a quantitative field or an MBA with a quantitative concentration Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in STEM or PhD in STEM Experience working with AWS At least 2 years’ experience in Python, Scala, or R At least 2 years’ experience with machine learning At least 2 years’ experience with SQL Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position. Salary information: The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries are listed by location for this role (Chicago, IL; McLean, VA; New York, NY). Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated. Other locations follow the respective location’s pay range. This role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI).
