One of GCC's trademarks is cutting-edge technology that includes the Conable Technology Building, 54 Hyflex Classrooms, 88 smart classrooms, 27 computer labs and 8 science labs. Both the onsite and online learning modalities boast a 14:1 student-to-faculty ratio, giving students plenty of hands-on, one-to-one teaching and learning opportunities. EDsmart recently ranked GCC as the number one community college in Western, New York and the fourth best community college in New York State. The spacious campus boasts a new Advanced Manufacturing and Skilled Trades Lab, along with a Criminal Justice lab, Veterinary Tech lab, Solar Electric Technician lab, Nursing lab, Digital Arts Lab and Computerized Drafting & Design Lab. Additionally, the campus houses the Stuart Steiner Performing Arts Center, Roz Steiner Art Gallery, Alfred C. O'Connell Library and Child Care Center. The Richard C. Call Arena features a multi-use field house, classrooms, locker rooms, state-of-the-art fitness center, coach offices and a press box overlooking the new turf field. College Village, a student housing community, offers suite and communal style student housing at the Batavia campus. SUNY Genesee awards over 250 student scholarships annually and has an extensive Financial Aid program. Additional information about GCC is available at Job Description GENERAL FUNCTIONS: The Vice President for Student Affairs and Chief Diversity Officer is responsible for providing strategic vision, leadership, and direction for the student affairs division for the College to include Student Life, Residence Life, Athletics, Access and Accommodations, Title IX, Code of Conduct, Financial Aid, the Wellness Center, Counseling Services, Academic Advising & Success Coaching, Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts. Responsibilities also include divisional strategic planning; building collaborative relationships across the college; developing processes/procedures that contribute to increased effectiveness, efficiency, and student retention; plan, direct, implement, and evaluate college wide student affairs activities and operations; develop mechanisms for a wide range of delivery systems; implement new and emerging technology in support of student affairs services; and coordinate assigned functions and activities with other College departments, campuses, and outside agencies. The Vice President will serve on the President's Cabinet and work collaboratively with executive leadership to support the college's mission, vision, and strategic plan. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide executive leadership and support to the Student Affairs division that includes planning and implementing goals, objectives, policies, and procedures and oversee diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts for the College. Support institutional effectiveness, assessment initiatives, strategic planning, and accreditation processes as they relate to student affairs and student success.
- Serve as the Chief Student Affairs Officer for the College; Engage with SUNY System opportunities for student support, success, and retention efforts. Work in conjunction with the Vice President for Development, Admissions, and External Affairs on enrollment management efforts for the College.
- Serve as the Chief Diversity Officer for the College; provide leadership in fostering a welcoming, accessible, and inclusive campus environment while ensuring institutional compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and SUNY guidance.
- Supervise and assess College operation and functions pertaining to all student services and related programs including: International Student Services, Financial Aid and Veterans Services, Student Engagement and Inclusion, Intercollegiate Athletics, Student Conduct/Judicial Affairs, Counseling Services, Child Care Center, Student Wellness Services, Access and Accommodations, Testing, Student Success Coaching/Academic Advisement, Genesee Community College Association, Residence Life, and relevant grants.
- Provide leadership, direction, oversight, and effective performance management for managers.
- Develop and maintain an annual budget that ensures fiscal responsibility while aligning with and supporting the needs of student services as outlined in the strategic plan.
- Serve as a key member of the College's enrollment management leadership team, collaborating with Admissions and Academic Affairs to support recruitment, retention, completion, and reenrollment strategies.
- Utilize data analytics and evidence-based practices to improve student retention, persistence, completion, and student engagement outcomes; proactively assess effectiveness of programs and offices in response to market forces and college objectives.
- Provide leadership on the administration of the Student Code of Conduct including Title IX, code violations and grievance processes.
- Collaborate with grant personnel to provide oversight of all grant-funded programs within the Student Affairs Division or related to the Chief Diversity Role to ensure that goals are met, funds are appropriately expended, and all reports are submitted in a timely fashion.
- Ensure compliance with State, Federal, and SUNY mandates as related to students and student issues, including but not limited to Title IX, Title IV, Clery, ADA, FERPA, and similar regulations.
- Provide leadership in student behavioral intervention, threat assessment, emergency response, and crisis management initiatives in collaboration with campus safety and community stakeholders.
- Serve as Chairperson of the Genesee Community College Association including meeting planning, management, committee activities and budget oversight.
- Attends Board of Trustee meetings and provides reports as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the President of the College to accomplish the College's goals.
