The Sr. Accountant will oversee the daily operations and improvement of the accounting department. This position will work closely with the Director of Finance and will complete other tasks as they are assigned by the Director of Finance.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Completes month-end and year-end closing, including preparation of journal entries, account and variance analysis, reconciliations to the general ledger, and coordination of auditsAssists in the preparation of the appropriate quarterly and annual reporting packagesResponsible for all aspects of the weekly and bi-weekly payroll processingReviews the accounts payable and accounts receivable processingMaintaining and reconciling fixed asset schedulesMay conduct variance analyses such as reviewing the balance sheet and income statement for any unexpected variances and researching variances to identify root cause for varianceDevelops accounting operational improvementsCreates and updates procedures on an ongoing basisAssists with international shipments and reportingReports Federal, State, and Local taxes and other required filingsOversees and serves as a backup for the tasks held by the Accounting Specialist, including cash application, customer invoicing, vouchering invoices, and discrepancy resolutionsCompletes other duties as assigned by the Director of FinanceAn individual in this position must be able to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. The list reflects the general details necessary to describe the principle and essential functions of the position and shall not be construed as the only duties that may be assigned for the position.Competencies:Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), balance sheet and income statement methods, internal controls, and other areas related to financial reportingComfortable with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft productsWorking knowledge of ERPAbility to recommend changes and upgrades to meet the needs of the businessStrong analytical and problem-solving skills paired with the ability to comprehend complex accounting functionsExcellent communication, people development, planning, and organization skillsHigh energy level and tolerance to tight deadlinesForward thinking approaches to maintain the company's exceptional growthPreferred and Required Qualifications:Education: Secondary Education in Accounting preferredExperience and/or Training: Minimum of 2 years of experience preferred; experience with Infor Syteline software preferred but not requiredLicenses/Certificates: No requirementsTechnology/Equipment: Demonstrated knowledge in the use of current technology, Microsoft office products, and other manufacturing softwarePhysical and Mental Demands:This position spends most of the time sitting and sometime walking through the plant environment.It is necessary for this position to occasionally climb stairs throughout the day.Manual dexterity is required to perform normal day to day functions.Must demonstrate patience to successfully work through frustrating challenges and always present oneself in a calm, professional manner.Working Environment:The main working environment for this position is the standard climate-controlled office environment.Occasionally, this position will be exposed to the plant environment. The plant environment is climate controlled as well and may include on occasion, exposure to heat, cold, noise, and odors. Personal protective equipment is required in appropriate areas.
