Join our team at our Minneapolis location in the charming and historic Mill District neighborhood. This is a Sherman Associates owned Hilton franchised location. This position plays a major role in the hotel's Food & Beverage experience. The Spirit to Serve is a key element in a positive customer experience. A server must be friendly, courteous, professional, and demonstrate strong communication skills. Must be able to manage multiple priorities, think/act quickly and effectively while maintaining self-composure. Schedule: We are currently seeking part-time availability to include both weekdays and weekends. Pay: $16.37/hour + generous tips Essential Functions Serves multiple tables, as determined by management Understands Room Service, Club Lounge, Banquet and Restaurant's food and beverage menu Takes and fills customer orders Upsells alcohol and food items Uses the computer to ring orders and guest checks Interacts with all guests in a friendly/fast manner Accepts different types of payments and makes accurate change Maintains specific side-work and ensures the cleanliness and smooth operation of the restaurant Quickly clears and resets tables Checks identification of guests to ensure legal age to consume alcoholic beverages. Refuses to serve beverages in a polite manner to guests who are not of legal age If consuming alcoholic beverages, observes guest's behavior, counts number of drinks served, and if the server feels they should not drive, offers Knows when to elevate situations for management intervention Completes other tasks and duties as assigned based on business needs Minimum Requirements Previous hotel/hospitality or related service industry experience is strongly preferred Must be at least 18 years of age Ability to communicate effectively and follow directions in a multi-lingual environment Must be able to pass required Alcohol service training A passion for the mission, vision, and values of Sherman Associates Schedule may vary due to the specific needs of the hotel WORK ENVIRONMENT This job operates behind the bar and may be working in close proximity to co-workers The noise level in the work environment can be loud Hazards may include, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping, tripping and burns Physical Requirements Must be able to sit or stand in designated work area throughout the day based on business needs Must have the ability to move around freely throughout the designated work area Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach tables and kitchen in a timely manner Must be able to lift up to 25-30 lbs. frequently throughout shift, and lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally Requires grasping, writing, sitting or standing, moving about freely, using computer, repetitive motions, bending, reaching, crouching, and communicating effectively Must be willing and able to wash hands frequently throughout the shift Benefits Employer-paid short-term disability Employer-paid life insurance Employer-paid employee assistance program Fully vested 401k company match program Starbucks and Hotel discounts Sherman Associates is an Equal Opportunity and affirmative Action Employer.
