Travel Stepdown RN Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Stepdown RN for a 13‑week travel assignment in Williamsburg, Virginia. Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit. Discipline: RN. Start Date: 07/06/2026. Duration: 13 weeks. 36 hours per week, 12‑hour night shifts. Employment type: Travel. Job Summary A Stepdown Registered Nurse provides care to patients who are transitioning from intensive care to medical‑surgical or general inpatient units. These patients require frequent monitoring and specialized nursing interventions. The RN assesses and manages complex patient needs, administers medications and treatments, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, patient‑centered care. Responsibilities Monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and telemetry data. Administers prescribed medications and treatments, focusing on cardiac care. Prepares equipment and assists physicians during cardiac procedures. Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of telemetry patients. Observes patients, records significant conditions, and notifies supervisors. Responds to life‑saving situations based on protocols for cardiac emergencies. Documents nursing history and assessment for assigned patients. Initiates patient education plans on cardiac health and lifestyle. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team for comprehensive care. Maintains patient confidentiality. Performs duties within scope of practice, including other assignments. Adheres to safety protocols, infection control, and regulations. Qualifications Required Minimum one year of recent experience as a Stepdown RN. Current valid RN license in compliance with state regulations. Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA/ARC). Preferred Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN). NIHSS certification. Other certifications and licenses as required. Required Essential Skills Critical thinking, service excellence, and interpersonal communication. Proficiency in written and verbal English. PC skills and ability to follow instructions. Physical Abilities – ability to remain stationary, move about, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, bend. Interpersonal Skills – work effectively with professionals and ancillary personnel, maintain positive attitude. Technical/Motor Skills – fine manipulation, push/pull, assist procedures. Mental Requirements – cope with frequent public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, work under supervision or independently, handle irregular schedules, maintain concentration.
