Job Description Summary

Day Porter will work under the CWS on-site lead and Area Manager and are responsible for maintaining assigned workplace areas throughout the business day in a clean, safe, orderly, and presentation-ready condition. This position requires proactive monitoring of the workplace, timely response to spills and service needs, cleaning and disinfecting high-touch surfaces, replenishing supplies, removing trash, and resetting spaces to support daily workplace activities.
The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, responsive, and able to maintain high standards of cleanliness while working in an active professional office environment.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

• Daily interior cleaning of the building including emptying waste receptacles, debris and trash removal, vacuuming/shampooing floors and carpets, dusting and cleaning furniture, cleaning and restocking restrooms, washing walls, polishing, mopping floors, placing down mats/runners in inclement weather, cleaning up spills, cleaning windows and window coverings, etc., in accordance with established procedures and as directed by a Supervisor
• Maintain consistent visibility throughout all assigned areas.
• Respond promptly to spills, debris, and other cleaning needs.
• Monitor high-traffic areas throughout the workday.
• Maintain high-touch surfaces in a clean condition.
• Replenish restroom and workplace supplies as needed.
• Properly remove trash and recycling.
• Identify and report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies in an organized manner.
• Provide professional and courteous service to employees, clients, guests, and workplace teams.
• Follow all site safety, cleaning, and workplace procedures.
• Previous day porter, janitorial, housekeeping, or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
• Fluent in English
• Shift M-F 8am-4:30pm

COMPETENCIES:

• Knowledge of safe use of cleaning agents and equipment used to perform job duties
• Must be willing to work evenings or weekends (on call) in the case of an emergency.
• Reliable, thorough, observant, organized, flexible and courteous
• Effective listener and team player
• Understand written or verbal instructions from the designated supervisor
• Some cleaning experience and basic mechanical knowledge is preferred
• Practice the necessary safety protocols and procedures
• Follows through and carries out work orders

IMPORTANT EDUCATION

• High School Diploma, GED, Trade, Technical, or Vocational school

• Some related experience

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Regularly required to travel outside between properties in varying weather conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to travel from floor to floor, climb stairs, and may be required to travel outside between buildings in varying outdoor weather conditions. The employee may also be regularly required to remain in a stationary position (sit or stand) for 85% of the time; regularly use hands to operate office machinery and regularly required to walk, talk, and hear. The employee must be able to travel up to 5 % of the time. Travel may vary in frequency and duration. The employee must demonstrate the ability to exert up to 25 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 25pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
