Registered Nurse - Ortho-Neuro Unit (12 Hour Days)

Schedule

This is a 13-week contract position, requiring 12-hour day shifts from 0700 to 1930, with weekends as scheduled.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Ortho-Neuro Unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in orthopedic nursing, particularly with elective surgeries including hips, knees, and shoulders, as well as spinal surgeries and general medical-surgical care. The role includes monitoring of patients with PCA pumps and IV fluids.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to orthopedic and neuro-surgery patients.
• Administer medications and manage PCA pumps.
• Monitor patient vitals and make necessary adjustments to care plans.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Document patient care using EPIC electronic health record system.
• Assist in the training and supervision of nursing assistants and PCTs.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current and unexpired Registered Nurse license.
• BLS certification (AHA).
• Previous experience in orthopedic nursing required.
• Knowledge of PCA pumps and IV fluid management.
• Experience using EPIC electronic health records preferred.
