About This Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs After School Teacher to join our team in Leander, TX. In this role, you will create a safe, engaging, and inclusive after-school environment for students with diverse learning and developmental needs. You will provide academic support, lead recreational activities, and foster social-emotional growth during the crucial after-school hours.

What You'll Do

• Create a warm, welcoming, and structured space where every child feels safe, valued, and supported
• Provide attentive supervision in a small-group setting, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children
• Support each child’s individual needs by implementing accommodations and strategies that help them succeed
• Build positive relationships and encourage social connections, communication, and confidence
• Lead and assist with daily activities including homework help, social-emotional learning, hands-on enrichment, and play
• Guide children through routines and transitions with patience, consistency, and understanding
• Encourage independence while offering the right level of support for each child
• Communicate with families and team members to share updates, celebrate progress, and support each child’s growth
• Maintain a clean, organized, and nurturing environment
• Follow all licensing standards and Brady’s Bridge policies to ensure a high-quality, safe program

Most importantly, you will help create a place where children feel a sense of belonging and families feel confident their child is cared for with compassion and purpose.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High School diploma/equivalent
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Experience working with children, preferably in a childcare, school, or special needs setting
• Passion for working with children of ALL abilities, including those with special needs or medical needs
• Patient, compassionate, and able to remain calm in a variety of situations
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and communicate effectively with staff and families
• Strong supervision skills and commitment to maintaining a safe environment at all times
• Willingness to learn and implement individualized supports, accommodations, and behavior strategies
• Ability to follow routines, schedules, and program expectations with consistency
• Dependable, punctual, and able to commit to scheduled hours
• Able to meet state licensing requirements, including background check and required training

Physical Requirements

• Ability to actively engage with children (sitting on the floor, playing, assisting with activities)
• Ability to lift, move, or assist children up to 40lbs as needed.
• Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time

Preferred (but not required)

• Knowledge of autism, ADHD, or other developmental differences
• Experience working in a small-group or inclusive setting

• Experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, sensory needs, or other developmental differences
• Basic understanding of behavior support strategies and positive reinforcement techniques
• Familiarity with IEPs, 504 plans, or individualized support plans
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to adapt communication to different needs and abilities
• Creativity in planning and leading engaging activities for a variety of learning styles
• Knowledge of social-emotional learning (SEL) practices
• Ability to support children with transitions and changes in routine
• Experience with de-escalation techniques and maintaining a calm environment
• Comfort collaborating with therapists, specialists, or outside providers
• Basic technology skills (apps for communication, attendance, or parent updates)
• Organization and time-management skills in a fast-paced environment
• Cultural awareness and sensitivity to diverse family needs
