This leadership role offers the opportunity to lead a team advancing new battery cell formation and production automation technologies in support of GM’s electrification vision.## What You’ll Do* Champion safety in all development activities* Lead development and implementation of new automation and formation processes for battery cell manufacturing* Supervise and develop a team focused on advanced battery cell manufacturing processes* Recruit, coach, and develop team members* Set technology roadmap objectives aligned with GM’s electrification strategy* Manage development budgets and lab resources* Lead specification, procurement, and qualification of prototype equipment and tooling* Partner with battery cell design, research, and manufacturing teams to bring new concepts into production* Lead technical engagements with external partners and support co-development strategies* Present project updates, development concepts, and recommendations to leadership* Drive continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and corrective actions* Apply lean principles and structured problem-solving tools in process development* Provide technical direction to support teams, vendors, labs, and plant manufacturing teams* Travel as needed for meetings and site visits## Required Qualifications* Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field* 5+ years of relevant engineering or manufacturing experience* 3+ years of experience in battery cell process development* Strong knowledge of electrochemical engineering* Experience leading external technical partnerships* Experience leading implementation of new technologies or processes* Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills* Demonstrated ability to work independently with sound technical judgment## Preferred Qualifications* Statistical problem-solving training* Experience in manufacturing plant operations* Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools such as Minitab, Red X, or DFSSGM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
