HR Coordinator

We are seeking an experienced HR professional to join our team as an HR Coordinator in a mission-driven, non-profit residential treatment environment. This is a 32-hour (hourly), 4-day-per-week, on-site position based in Mill Spring, North Carolina. Required Credentials: Candidates must hold a SHRM-CP or aPHR certification, or be actively working toward one, with completion required within 12 months of hire as a condition of continued employment. In this position, you will support the hands‑on administrative work of HR across several core areas: Human Resources Administration - processing paperwork, maintaining accurate records, and supporting employees with day-to-day questions and needs; Recruitment & Retention – coordinating job postings and supporting hiring manager’s tasks based on their own availability and selection process, and supporting new hires through onboarding. Payroll & Benefits – assisting with payroll processing and day‑to‑day benefits administration tasks; Compliance & Accreditation - helping maintain accurate documentation in support of state and federal regulatory requirements and accreditation standards; and Organizational Support – serving as a reliable, approachable point of contact for all departments. Working closely with the current HR Manager to learn our operations, systems, and compliance landscape, with the opportunity to take on greater scope and responsibility as familiarity with the department grows. What We’re Looking For: Must currently reside in or near Polk County, North Carolina; this is an on‑site position and we are unable to offer relocation assistance or consider remote/out‑of‑country candidates 1-3 years of HR Coordinator experience, ideally within a structured HR department Hands‑on experience working within an HRIS system: ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred, with working knowledge of the Recruitment, Background Screening, and New Hire Onboarding modules. This role is best suited for someone who’s already comfortable in an HR role, not one just starting out, as it is not designed as an entry point into the field.
