Coatings Chemist

Capstone Search Advisors is currently searching for a Coatings Chemist for a manufacturing client in Akron Ohio. Great work life balance as well with no weekend requirements We’re looking for a talented, curious, and hands‑on Coatings Chemist to help shape the next generation of coatings. Job Responsibilities: Formulate new and innovative solvent-based and/or waterborne coatings, paints, and finishes. Conduct laboratory testing for adhesion, durability, corrosion resistance, viscosity, and application properties. Troubleshoot and optimize existing formulations for performance, cost, and compliance. Stay ahead of regulatory trends (e.g. VOC, REACH) and ensure all products meet applicable standards. Collaborate with production, sales, and customers on custom formulations and technical support. Manage lab records, batch tracking, and technical documentation. Preferred Experience/Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field. 5+ years of experience in coatings formulation (industrial, architectural, automotive, or similar). Strong understanding of raw materials, resin systems, pigments, and additives. A "hands-on" mindset and strong troubleshooting skills.
