Purpose:
The Senior Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's fleet operations on a national level. This role provides strategic leadership and direction to regional and local Fleet Managers, ensuring consistency, compliance, cost efficiency, and operational excellence across all states. The Senior Fleet Manager is accountable for fleet acquisition and lifecycle strategy, regulatory adherence, vendor management, and implementation of company-wide fleet initiatives. This position plays a key role in aligning fleet operations with business objectives, optimizing asset performance, and reducing risk while enabling reliable service delivery. The Senior Fleet Manager is accountable for fleet acquisition and lifecycle strategy, regulatory adherence, vendor management, and implementation of company-wide fleet initiatives. This position plays a key role in aligning fleet operations with business objectives, optimizing asset performance, and reducing risk while enabling reliable service delivery. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities:
- *Provide leadership and oversight to Fleet Managers nationwide, ensuring standardized policies and best practices are applied consistently.
- *Develop and execute long-term fleet strategies for vehicle acquisition, utilization, maintenance, and disposition.
- *Ensure compliance with DOT, state, and federal regulations, leading audits and corrective action programs across regions.
- *Direct vendor negotiations and contracts at a national level for vehicle leasing, maintenance, fuel, telematics, and insurance programs.
- *Establish fleet performance benchmarks and implement data-driven initiatives to improve utilization, reduce downtime, and increase cost efficiency.
- *Lead the budgeting process for national fleet operations, ensuring financial discipline and cost-control measures.
- *Review and analyze fleet metrics from regional managers; report trends, risks, and opportunities to executive leadership.
- *Collaborate with Safety, HR, and Operations to enforce driver standards, manage incident response, and support corrective actions.
- *Serve as the subject-matter expert on emerging fleet technologies, environmental regulations, and sustainability practices.
- *Mentor and develop regional Fleet Managers, creating career pathways and strengthening leadership bench strength.
- *National fleet uptime and utilization rates
- *Achievement of fleet budget targets and cost savings
- *Regulatory compliance results across all jurisdictions (DOT, safety, emissions)
- *Accident/incident frequency rates and corrective action follow-through
- *Timeliness and accuracy of fleet performance reporting to leadership
- *Vendor performance metrics at a national level
- *Alignment of fleet strategy with overall business growth and operational needs
- *Deep understanding of fleet lifecycle management, multi-state regulatory frameworks, and compliance systems
- *Experience managing large-scale vendor contracts and national partnerships
- *Familiarity with fleet sustainability initiatives, electric/alternative fuel vehicles, and environmental compliance
- *Broad exposure to telematics platforms, driver safety programs, and large-scale maintenance scheduling systems

Requirements Physical Requirements :
- *Prolonged periods of computer and administrative work
- *Occasional lifting of equipment or records up to 25 lbs
- *Travel to field locations, vendor meetings, and vehicle inspections as required
- *Ability to sit, stand, drive, and walk for extended periods during fleet-related activities
- *Must maintain a valid driver's license and adhere to all company vehicle policies
- *7+ years of experience managing a fleet of vehicles in a multi-state environment
- *Demonstrated success in vendor contract negotiation, DOT compliance, fleet technology implementation, and cost optimization at scale.
- *Proven ability to lead and develop teams of Fleet Managers and operational staff.
