Job Summary

Under the direction of the Principal assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom or other learning environment; tutor individual or small groups of student; assist in the preparation of instructional materials; provide routine clerical support.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education and Experience:Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school or equivalent GED and some experience working with children in a learning or organized setting. Incumbents must meet requirements specified under every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). In addition must meet on of the following:- Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 units);- Obtained an associates or higher degree (college level); OR- Met (pass) a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate through a formal State or local academic assessment knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading writing and and Interview Process:Candidates who successfully pass application screening will participate in the following competitive recruitment testing phases as applicable based on minimum qualification status:- Written Examination: Candidates who do not meet the educational minimum qualifications will be required to complete a paraprofessional equivalency examination. This multiple choice examination is administered on a continuous basis typically once per month.- Panel Interview (Required): All candidates who meet the minimum qualifications or who successfully pass the paraprofessional examination will be required to participate in a panel interview. Panel interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis typically twice per candidates will be notified of specific testing and panel interview note:Requests for alternate or rescheduled testing or interview dates will not be are expected to be available for all scheduled components of the recruitment testing process.
