Job Summary:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position located in a childrens hospital. This role involves providing specialized care to neonatal patients, with requirements for experience in neonatal intensive care and proficiency in advanced neonatal procedures. The position offers a dynamic work environment, requiring flexibility to float between units and accommodate variable scheduling.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 10/19/2026 and ending on 01/18/2027.
- Required Qualifications: Valid state license with a compact license in hand at submission; at least 2 years of NICU experience; certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); experience with charting systems (Epic preferred); minimum of 2 years of neonatal intensive care experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge nurse experience, experience with advanced neonatal procedures such as arterial line management, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and neonatal pharmacology.
- Patient Ratios and Coverage: Staffing ensures a ratio of 1:2-4 patients, with coverage for weekends (6 shifts in 6 weeks, schedule may vary).
- Additional Unit Information: Support services include physical therapy, respiratory, pharmacy, interpretation, and social services. The unit cares for neonates primarily aged prematurity, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, infections, and surgical cases (excluding cardiac surgery).
- Special Procedures/Equipment: Central lines, arterial lines, mechanical ventilation, phototherapy, infant feeding management, and thermoregulation.
- Orientation: 12 hours of orientation pre-start.
- Other Requirements: Must be able to work holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Years Eve, New Years Day). Candidates must respond to screening questions regarding previous employment at similar facilities and provide two references covering at least 6 months within the past 3 years prior to start date.
