Operations Manager

Murray, Mensch & Brooks, P.C. (MMB) is a community-focused CPA firm in McKinney, Texas, serving individuals and businesses for 40 years. We specialize in tax compliance, tax planning, bookkeeping, and fractional CFO services. Our mission is to deliver exceptional client service, so our clients have peace of mind. We're growing, and we're looking for an Operations Manager to help us build the systems and team that will carry us into our next chapter. The Role As Operations Manager, you'll report directly to our Managing Partner and keep the firm running smoothly every day so our CPAs can focus on serving clients. You'll own our workflow, deadlines, client service processes, and administrative team, and you'll build the systems and metrics that let MMB grow without losing the personal care our clients expect. This role has a clear growth path to Director of Operations and, as the firm grows, Chief Operating Officer. What You'll Do Run day-to-day firm operations, including the deadline calendar, engagement tracking, and capacity planning across tax season, extensions, and year-round advisory work Monitor engagement progress in our practice management system and report weekly to the Managing Partner on status and bottlenecks Document and improve SOPs for client onboarding, engagement letters, document intake, e-file, delivery, and billing Oversee billing, collections, and accounts receivable follow-up Supervise and coach administrative and client service staff, and coordinate seasonal staffing and our intern program Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance reviews Build and track firm KPIs such as turnaround time, utilization, realization, WIP, and AR aging Manage technology and vendor relationships (IT, software, security, facilities) Partner with the Managing Partner on strategic initiatives, such as rolling out new advisory services and hiring to build capacity What You Bring Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field 3–5 years of experience in public accounting, firm administration, or operations management, ideally in a professional services firm 2+ years supervising or leading a team Advanced Microsoft 365 skills, especially Excel Experience in a paperless office with practice management, tax, or client portal software Comfort with budgets, financial reports, and performance metrics Strong organization, clear communication, and sound judgment with confidential information Nice to Have CPA, MBA, or related credential Experience implementing workflow software in an accounting firm Background in billing, HR, or IT vendor management Why MMB Competitive salary of $85,000-$105,000, based on experience, plus an annual performance bonus Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with employer match Paid time off and paid holidays Professional development and continuing education support Hybrid schedule with at least 3 days per week in our new Adriatica office in McKinney Direct access to firm leadership and a real path to Director of Operations and COO A team that values accuracy, integrity, and caring for clients and team #J-18808-Ljbffr
