Material Technician

The Material Technician supports daily warehouse and production operations by safely handling materials, accurately tracking inventory, and assisting with shipping and receiving activities. This role works on first shift, performing a mix of forklift operation, material handling, data entry, and general labor to ensure products move efficiently and correctly from the facility to customers.
Responsibilities
- Operate a forklift periodically to move pallets, boxes, and materials safely within the warehouse and production areas.
- Lift and move boxes weighing approximately 35 to 50 pounds to stage, load, and unload materials and finished products.
- Prepare outgoing shipments by picking, packing, and loading boxes onto trucks for delivery to customers.
- Receive incoming materials, verify quantities and condition, and ensure accurate documentation of all shipments.
- Use RF scanners to scan materials and products, maintaining accurate real-time inventory records.
- Perform inventory-related tasks, including counting, tracking, and organizing materials to support production and logistics.
- Complete data entry tasks to record inventory movements, shipping and receiving details, and other material transactions.
- Assist with general labor tasks in the warehouse or production area as needed to support overall workflow.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating equipment and handling materials.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate clearly to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
- Proven experience operating a forklift in a warehouse, logistics, or production environment.
- Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving processes, including loading and unloading trucks.
- Ability to lift and move boxes weighing 35 to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Experience using RF scanners for scanning, picking, and tracking inventory.
- Background in material handling, including staging, organizing, and moving materials.
- Experience with picking and packing orders accurately and efficiently.
- Basic data entry skills to record inventory and shipping information accurately.
- Ability to work a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, with some overtime as needed.
- Previous experience in a production, logistics, or assembly environment.
- Familiarity with general labor tasks in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate scanning, labeling, and documentation.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adapt to changing priorities.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality to support consistent first-shift operations.

Work Environment
This is a first-shift role, Monday through Friday, typically working 6:55 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with some overtime that may adjust the schedule to approximately 5:55 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or 7:55 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The position is based in a warehouse and production environment that involves regular physical activity, including lifting boxes weighing 35 to 50 pounds and moving materials throughout the facility. Work frequently involves operating a forklift, using RF scanners, and performing shipping, receiving, and general material handling tasks. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, with a focus on safety, accuracy, and teamwork. Appropriate work attire should be practical and suitable for a warehouse setting, supporting safe operation of equipment and manual material handling.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Athens, AL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.90 - $21.90/hr.
