Pay Rate: $33.00–$36.31/hour – Determined based on experience (Paid Weekly)
Shift: Night Shift – 9:30 PM–5:30 AM
Work Model: Fully Onsite

Role Overview

BEPC is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician III to support our customer’s manufacturing operations in San Diego, CA.

This hands-on technical position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and improving complex automated manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime and maintain production output. The technician will diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, controls, and automation-related issues while supporting preventive maintenance, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate has 2–4+ years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting automated or electronic production equipment, preferably within a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment. This role requires the ability to work independently as a primary technical resource during the night shift while collaborating closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, contractors, and vendors.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and support complex automated manufacturing equipment. 
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, controls, and automation-related equipment issues. 
• Minimize equipment downtime and support consistent production output. 
• Monitor equipment performance, cycle times, and production metrics to support Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and operational targets. 
• Perform preventive maintenance activities according to established schedules and procedures. 
• Maintain preventive maintenance and equipment records within the Maximo CMMS. 
• Utilize technical manuals, schematics, diagnostic software, precision tools, and test equipment to troubleshoot equipment. 
• Analyze equipment performance data and trends to identify root causes. 
• Implement corrective actions and support continuous improvement initiatives. 
• Support investigations and resolution of equipment-related process and product nonconformances. 
• Maintain accurate equipment history, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting records. 
• Document equipment modifications, corrective actions, and repairs in accordance with quality requirements. 
• Assess and document the impact of completed maintenance work on production operations, equipment performance, and the validated state of equipment. 
• Ensure appropriate reviews and approvals are completed according to applicable quality system requirements. 
• Read, interpret, and follow technical documentation, schematics, work instructions, and verbal direction. 
• Utilize electronic data collection systems, manufacturing software, and equipment interfaces. 
• Prioritize maintenance activities based on production impact, equipment criticality, and business needs. 
• Maintain cross-training across multiple manufacturing processes and equipment platforms. 
• Follow established safety procedures and utilize required safety equipment during maintenance and troubleshooting activities. 
• Support compliance with QMS, EMS, FDA, GMP, ISO, and other applicable regulatory requirements. 
• Provide technical support during audits, inspections, and facility tours as required. 
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, contractors, and equipment vendors to support reliable manufacturing operations. 

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED. 
• Minimum 2 years of relevant maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
• Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex automated manufacturing or production equipment. 
• Hands-on troubleshooting experience with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and controls systems. 
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, equipment manuals, and schematics. 
• Experience using diagnostic tools, precision tools, and test equipment. 
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and make sound technical decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 
• Ability to independently prioritize maintenance activities based on production impact and equipment criticality. 
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root-cause problem-solving skills. 
• Ability to maintain accurate maintenance and equipment documentation. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
• Strong organizational, prioritization, follow-up, and attention-to-detail skills. 
• Ability to work independently as a primary technical resource while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. 
• Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance. 
• Ability to work the 9:30 PM–5:30 AM night shift and scheduled overtime as required. 

Preferred Qualifications

• 2–4+ years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting electronic, electrical, or automated production equipment. 
• Experience within a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment. 
• Technical degree, certification, or vocational training in electronics, automation, industrial maintenance, or a related discipline. 
• Experience working in GMP, ISO, and FDA-regulated environments. 
• Experience with Maximo or another Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). 
• Experience monitoring and improving equipment performance and OEE. 
• Experience analyzing equipment data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. 
• Knowledge of maintenance requirements for validated manufacturing equipment. 
• Experience documenting the impact of equipment repairs or modifications on validated systems. 
• Experience supporting equipment-related nonconformance investigations. 
• Experience working within a matrixed, cross-functional manufacturing organization.
