Job Description

Duties include:

• Performing tasks involved in the servicing and upkeep of vessels and maintenance of radiologically controlled buildings.
• Executing tasks in at least two or more of the following trades: electrical, air-conditioning, plumbing, pipefitting, carpentry, painting, and insulation.
• Preparing, packing, and transferring radiological material.
• Producing requested carpentry and woodworking products to support shipyard maintenance work.
• Planning and laying out the installation, modification, and repair of various new and existing piping systems and equipment.
• Operating and maintaining HVAC systems and ductwork/vent inside radiological controlled areas.
• Removing and replacing electrical fixtures and controls; making repairs; rearranging old or installing new outlets, relays, switches, light fixtures, and testing circuits.

Requirements include:

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to climb ladders and scaffolding.
• You will be required to work in small and/or confined spaces.

• Ability to observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
• Ability to utilize tools and equipment common to the trade and be skilled in the safety precautions, principals, and work methods associated with a maintenance mechanic.
