Groundskeeper

GroundskeeperMaintains University grounds and performs some specialized grounds maintenance functions, such as certain heavy equipment operations, maintenance of athletics fields, and repair and rebuilding of tools and equipment.Responsibilities include maintaining grounds in summer and winter, performing other seasonal grounds work, maintaining tools and equipment, performing specialized equipment maintenance and repair tasks, picking up trash around buildings and dorms, and performing specialized heavy equipment operations and grounds maintenance tasks.Qualifications include high school education desirable, plus two years of formal or informal experience in grounds maintenance, good basic knowledge and skills related to the care and maintenance of lawns, flowers, trees, and shrubs, good basic trades skills and mechanical ability, good skill with operating hand tools and power equipment used in grounds work, ability to operate a variety of heavy equipment, physical ability to do all primary job duties, and a valid driver's license with a good driving record.The University of New England is committed to the fundamental concept of equal opportunity for all of the members of the University community and prohibits discrimination in employment, the provision of academic services or in any other area of University life based on race, color, sex, physical or mental disability, religion, age, ancestry, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, ethnicity, genetic information, HIV status, or status as a veteran.Employees in clinical settings must meet the State of Maine's immunization requirements for clinical activity.
