Phlebotomist - SF1

Location Brigham & Women's Faulkner Hospital, 1153 Centre Street, Boston, MA. Onsite work required. Summary Phlebotomy Technician responsible for obtaining blood specimens, performing pre‑analytical processing, handling biohazardous materials, and collaborating with laboratory personnel to ensure accurate specimen handling. Essential Functions Adhere to safety precautions, hand hygiene, and use of personal protective equipment. Use two patient identifiers and communicate effectively during hand‑offs. Follow departmental procedures for specimen collection and labeling. Job Responsibilities Verify specimen and labeling requirements for test orders. Register and label tubes correctly. Centrifuge and aliquot specimens per department policy. Sort, store, and deliver specimens by department and requirement. Collaborate with technologists and client services to resolve specimen issues. Answer phone calls and provide assistance as needed. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. 3‑5 years experience in a hospital laboratory; internship 0‑1 year acceptable. Phlebotomy Technician certification preferred; ASCP Board of Certification (ASCP‑BOC) preferred. Demonstrate annual CAP competencies in all areas of work. Physical Requirements Stand 34‑66% of the time; walk 34‑66% of the time. Lift 35 lbs or more with an assisted device frequently. Carry 20‑35 lbs frequently. Perform fine and gross manipulation frequently. Maintain vision and hearing requirements constantly. Benefits & Compensation Pay: $18.99–$28.21 per hour. 40‑hour work week with variable evening shifts. Rotating weekends and holidays. $3,000 sign‑on bonus.
