Sr. Applications Developer, ERP (Syteline Infor)

Job Description

** This is an onsite position and can be based in any of the following locations: Nashville, TN; Bowling Green, KY; New Braunfels, TX; El Paso, TX; Opelika, AL; or Phoenix, AZ. **

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Application Developer, Core Applications (Infor) to support and enhance a business-critical ERP environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, improving system performance, and developing reliable solutions that support manufacturing and distribution operations.

The Application Developer will focus primarily on the Infor SyteLine 9 ERP platform and Microsoft SQL Server , combining application development, technical analysis, SQL development, and production support.

This individual will work closely with business stakeholders, application teams, Data Engineering, and Database Administration to translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions. The role will also support an ongoing transition from Infor SyteLine to Infor LN , helping maintain the stability of the current environment while contributing to data analysis, conversion, validation, and migration efforts.

Key Responsibilities

SQL Development & Data Solutions

• Design, develop, test, document, and maintain complex SQL queries, views, stored procedures, functions, and controlled data scripts.
\n
• Translate business and functional requirements into secure, maintainable database and application solutions.
\n
• Troubleshoot SQL errors, data inconsistencies, blocking, deadlocks, long-running processes, and performance issues.
\n
• Analyze execution plans and query behavior to identify and implement performance improvements.
\n
• Develop validation queries, transaction controls, error handling, logging, and rollback procedures for data changes.
\n
• Participate in peer reviews and maintain source-controlled documentation for SQL and application changes.
\n

Infor SyteLine Development & Support

\n
• Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot SyteLine 9 customizations, reports, interfaces, background tasks, and supporting database objects.
\n
• Support SyteLine forms, IDOs, Application Event System, TaskMan, stored procedures , and other extension points.
\n
• Troubleshoot issues across the user interface, business logic, integrations, background processing, and SQL Server layers.
\n
• Support ERP processes across manufacturing, planning, inventory, order management, shipping, purchasing, finance, and customer service.
\n
• Partner with internal teams and third-party implementation resources on enhancements, upgrades, defects, and new functionality.
\n
• Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to application stability, performance, and overall supportability.
\n

Data Engineering & Database Collaboration

\n
• Assist with source-system analysis, field mapping, data extracts, transformations, reconciliation, and data-quality investigations.
\n
• Provide SyteLine data-model expertise for integrations, reporting, analytics, and migration initiatives.
\n
• Collaborate on database design, indexing, security, performance tuning, deployment planning, maintenance, and recovery considerations.
\n
• Troubleshoot issues spanning application, integration, and database environments.
\n
• Support data conversion, migration, and validation activities related to the transition from SyteLine to Infor LN .
\n

Business Partnership & Application Support

\n
• Work directly with business users to understand workflows, operational challenges, priorities, and desired outcomes.
\n
• Provide responsive application support and clearly communicate during incidents and system issues.
\n
• Translate technical findings into practical explanations for business users and technical teams.
\n
• Create and maintain solution documentation, support procedures, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge articles.
\n
• Train users and support teams on new functionality, system changes, and best practices.
\n

Development Lifecycle & Change Management

\n
• Follow established practices for requirements gathering, solution design, development, peer review, testing, user acceptance, deployment, validation, and rollback.
\n
• Develop and test changes within appropriate non-production environments before production deployment.
\n
• Prepare thorough change documentation including business justification, testing evidence, implementation steps, risk assessment, validation criteria, and rollback procedures.
\n
• Participate in Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes and perform root-cause analysis for recurring or high-impact issues.
\n

Required Qualifications

\n
• 7+ years of experience in application development, ERP support, database development, systems analysis, or a related technical role.
\n
• Hands-on experience developing and supporting Infor SyteLine 9 or SyteLine 10 in a production environment.
\n
• Advanced experience with Microsoft SQL Server and SQL , including complex queries, joins, views, stored procedures, functions, transactions, and error handling.
\n
• Experience troubleshooting SQL performance, execution plans, blocking, deadlocks, and data-integrity issues.
\n
• Experience with ERP integrations, customizations, reporting, background processing, and production support.
\n
• Working knowledge of manufacturing and distribution processes and the supporting ERP data.
\n
• Experience with software development lifecycle practices, source control, testing, technical documentation, and change management.
\n
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
\n
• Ability to independently manage priorities while collaborating effectively with technical and business teams.
\n

Preferred Qualifications

\n
• Experience with SyteLine IDOs, Mongoose forms, Application Event System, TaskMan, and SSRS .
\n
• Experience with EDI, APIs, middleware, ETL/ELT processes, and enterprise integrations .
\n
• Experience with SQL development and monitoring tools such as Redgate SQL Monitor or SQL Toolbelt .
\n
• Familiarity with SQL Server administration concepts including indexing, security, backup and recovery, and database maintenance.
\n
• Experience supporting multi-site manufacturing environments and working with SyteLine implementation partners.
\n
• Experience with Infor LN, ERP data migration, or hybrid cloud/on-premises environments .
\n
• Familiarity with ITIL service-management practices and platforms such as Halo, ServiceNow, or Jira.
\n
