Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care to patients in a fast-paced hospital setting, ensuring safety, effective communication, and high-quality patient outcomes. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and utilize advanced clinical skills to support post-operative and acute care needs.

Responsibilities:

• Perform accurate patient assessments, including wound care, trach Management, and monitoring of drains and chest tubes.
• Administer treatments and medications according to physician orders, including Heparin drips and PCA pumps.
• Document patient progress and interventions using Meditech electronic documentation system.
• Educate patients and families on post-operative care, safety procedures, and discharge instructions.
• Monitor patient safety through regular safety checks, bed alarms, and fall prevention protocols.
• Collaborate with team members to coordinate patient care, ensuring adherence to hospital policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with at least 2 years of recent medical-surgical experience.
• Possess current BLS and NIHSS certifications.
• Demonstrate proficiency in patient assessments, wound care, and post-op procedures.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule.
• Exhibit excellent communication skills and responsiveness to patient needs.
• Capable of managing complex patient populations, including those requiring dialysis or PCA pump therapy.
