Automotive and Heavy Duty Body (Collision) Shop Technician

Job Description Johnson Equipment Sales and Service, Inc. is looking to expand its operations in Farmington, NY. This family‑owned, family‑operated company wants you to feel like part of the family. We are looking for skilled Automotive Body Shop Technicians for an immediate opening. If you want to use your skills to the fullest or learn more, we have a place for you. Compensation and Benefits $25 per hour or more based on experience (full‑time) Overtime available First shift Full benefits: 401(k), health, dental, vision, life insurance, paid time off, paid holidays Gym membership reimbursement Referral and tool bonuses Essential Duties and Responsibilities Disassemble, repair, paint, and reassemble damaged parts precisely. Use cutting torch and minor welding skills. Comply with all safety protocols, wear protective gear, and maintain a clean, safe work environment. Communicate professionally with internal and external customers. Maintain great attention to detail. Self‑starter and work according to schedule. Perform other related duties as assigned. Requirements Experience in auto body repair, including frame, panel, filler, paint finish, and sandblasting (preferred). Good general knowledge of paint and paint application. Experience with gravity HVLP and pressure pot painting systems (preferred). Good mechanical skills (welding, fabrication, etc.). Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Positive interaction with peers, leaders, and internal customers. Sound organizational, records‑management, time‑management skills, and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize responsibilities, meet deadlines, and manage stress. Desire to learn shop procedures, technical information, and take initiative. High school diploma or GED. Some Class A/B technical school or BOCES experience desirable. Experience working on automobiles, farm equipment, or construction equipment. Own basic set of tools. Valid driver’s license. Physical Requirements Lift up to 50 pounds frequently and sometimes up to 75 pounds with assistance. Wear a respirator. Be on time for all scheduled shifts and work all scheduled days.
