Compensation: $265,000–$420,000 DOE

Position Overview

We are supporting a leading law firm seeking an experienced intellectual property litigator to join its Dallas practice. The role is best suited for an associate with 4–7 years of litigation experience and meaningful exposure to patent disputes, including matters before federal courts, the ITC, and other IP-focused forums.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle complex patent and intellectual property disputes involving patent infringement, trade secrets, unfair competition, false advertising, and related claims.
• Draft pleadings, dispositive and procedural motions, briefs, discovery papers, and substantive correspondence.
• Manage written discovery, document discovery, expert coordination, and deposition preparation, including taking and defending depositions where appropriate.
• Support trial preparation and participate in jury trials, bench trials, administrative hearings, and appellate matters.
• Assist with proceedings before the U.S. International Trade Commission and Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
• Develop case strategy, legal research, written analysis, and settlement approaches, including mediation and other dispute-resolution processes.
• Work directly with partners, clients, experts, and cross-functional legal teams on complex technical and commercial issues.

Required Qualifications

• 4–7 years of substantive litigation experience.
• Meaningful patent litigation experience, including exposure to ITC matters.
• Admission to the State Bar of Texas and current good standing.
• Strong academic credentials.
• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, oral advocacy, and client-communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple sophisticated matters, deadlines, and workstreams with a high degree of ownership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Patent Bar admission.
• Science, engineering, or other technical academic background.
• Experience with PTAB proceedings.
• Experience taking a meaningful role in depositions, hearings, motion arguments, trial preparation, or appellate work.
• Prior experience in a sophisticated law-firm IP litigation practice.
