Experience RequirementsRequired

• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience
• Surgical Stepdown experience at a Level I Trauma Center is required.
• IMCU/Stepdown experience.
• Experience with automated medication dispensing systems.
• More than one previous travel assignment required.
• Ability to independently read and interpret telemetry rhythm strips.

Unit Overview

This Surgical Stepdown / IMCU unit cares for post-operative patients requiring intermediate-level care who are transitioning from:

• PACU
• Surgical ICU (SICU)

Patient populations include:

• Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Vascular Surgery
• Neurosurgery
• Trauma
• Transplant Surgery

Unit Details

• 38-bed unit
• Average nurse-to-patient ratios:
  • 1:3
  • 1:4
  • Up to 1:4-5 for Med-Surg level patients

Testing Requirements

The following assessments are required on Day 1:

• Telemetry Exam
• Critical Care Medication Exam
