Registered Nurse - Inpatient Pulmonary/Endocrinology

Job Responsibilities Compliance – Patient Services Staff: sustain a working understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards; support leadership in compliance efforts; monitor safety and departmental policies; ensure certifications and Safety College requirements are fulfilled; work with managers, nurse council and magnet representatives to share safety best practices; communicate safety and compliance concerns to leadership. Systems thinking: view patient and family within the unit context; support the family through care coordination; sustain regulation knowledge; support compliance efforts; monitor and comply with safety policies; fulfill certifications; be mindful of CCHMC processes and CMS compliance; communicate concerns to leadership. Clinical judgment: collect clinical data; follow algorithms, decision trees, protocols; match knowledge to events to make decisions; document plan of care, care delivered, outcomes; anticipate future needs; base care on standards; maintain a safe environment; acknowledge death as a possible outcome; integrate age‑specific concepts; use self‑management support to develop goals; facilitate patient education with structured plan and teach‑back. Clinical inquiry & performance review: follow standards and guidelines; implement research‑based changes; seek further learning; recognize patient deterioration or crisis; seek help when needed; perform self‑appraisal and peer review; set annual goals; promote safe and ethical practice; mentor others; collaborate with managers and councils to identify and evaluate safety best practices. Collaborate with team: participate in interdisciplinary meetings and shared governance; contribute to shared decision making; read minutes, give feedback, implement council decisions. Interprofessional practice: consistently integrate the Interprofessional Practice Model (IPM) in all practice. Advocacy and inclusion: represent patient and family; assess values; handle ethical conflicts; advocate for patient rights; assess cultural inclusion; incorporate culturally inclusive concepts into care. Age‑specific & culturally inclusive care: consistently integrate age‑specific and culturally inclusive concepts into patient care, considering chronological age and developmental functioning. Job Qualifications Associate/Diploma RN from ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA accredited institution; 2+ years experience. If not holding BSN or MSN, must enroll in program within 1 year of hire and complete within 5 years. Preferred: BSN, ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA accredited or MSN. Active Ohio RN License; may require other state licensure. Foreign graduates must have license validated through TruMerit™ per Ohio Board of Nursing code for Foreign Graduates.
