Sr Safety Specialist

Overview This is an interview position. Responsibilities Through partnership with assigned business locations the Sr. Safety Specialist takes all steps necessary to ensure the safety of the company personnel and assets are in compliance with legislative requirements, in support of our people-service-profit philosophy. The role performs activities in the following areas: Occupational health and safety, risk assessment, JHSC, audits, safe driving, dangerous goods, Canada Labour Code Part II and WHMIS. Provides leadership and guidance to junior staff as well as education to managers and employees. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent – preferred Health, Safety, Environment related. Accreditations/Certifications/Licenses (Preferred) – professional accreditation (CRSP). Minimum 4 years of relevant experience. Diversified professional expertise in: Occupational Health and Safety, Workers Compensation, Dangerous Goods, Fire Prevention, Vehicle or Driving safety. Knowledge of building codes and fire codes – desirable. Strong understanding of government legislation and the interpretation and application of constantly changing legislation to company health and safety programs/policies. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook. Ability to work occasional overtime and irregular working hours based on operational needs. Travel within geographic territory. Must be bilingual (French and English) if residing in Quebec. Valid driver’s license (Class 5, G, or 1[AZ]) and a driving record with ≤ two violations/accidents in the 24 months prior to the date of application (required for positions that require driving).
