Real Time Scheduling Analyst

Job Summary SENA’s Real Time (RT) Desk manages and optimizes short‑tenor (Day‑Ahead and Real‑Time) power and gas positions in markets throughout the United States and Canada. The Real Time Scheduling Analyst provides dedicated support to real‑time power traders, handling hourly scheduling, data analytics, reconciliations, trade entries, post‑analysis, data requests, and customer reporting. The role also supports Real Time Traders, Asset Optimization Traders and front‑office commercial staff in a high‑pressure, fast‑paced environment. Responsibilities Work a continuous 12‑hour shift alongside a real‑time power trader for up to 7 days in a row, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Procure hourly transmission reservations and create electronic tags under guidance of a real‑time power trader. Upload power market bids, offers, and schedules to the appropriate ISOs. Work with counterparties to set up paths and schedules; ensure tags and transmission are properly implemented. Analyze complex data to support traders and customers in decision‑making. Provide real‑time support to traders and trade‑floor personnel, resolving operational issues quickly. Reconcile customer and Shell Energy trade activity to invoices and the trade capture system with Power Settlements and Risk for accurate P&L reporting. Maintain working relationships with trading users, IT service partners, management, and external vendors. Coordinate with the real‑time trading team and other IT operational teams to resolve operational issues. Develop and continuously improve data handling, report generation, and IT processes on Shell’s Azure framework. Ensure compliance with required processes and procedures; implement policy changes as needed. Develop tools to analyze archived market data in meaningful ways. Use ETRM systems and applications to simplify energy and ancillary reporting to stakeholders. Standardize and distribute daily reports; interface with in‑house trading software for real‑time asset and trader performance metrics. Collaborate on performance management, root‑cause analysis, and strategy review. Manage large datasets, extract insights, and develop actionable commercial strategies. Provide coding assistance for data inference and automation projects using VBA, SQL, SQL Reporting Services, C, R, Python, or other advanced languages. Collaborate with functional groups within Shell Energy (Accounting, Customer Support, Risk Control, Power Scheduling) to facilitate tie‑out and settlement processes for daily P&L and exposure reporting. Perform contract administration to verify/reconcile information and physical power delivery language. Contribute to and align with SENA’s overall goals and strategies. Qualifications Legal authorization to work in the United States on a full‑time basis. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Business, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or a comparable combination of education and experience. Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a technical field is preferred. Minimum 2 years of professional work experience. High availability and dependability for 12‑hour shifts up to 7 consecutive days, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Thrives in a high‑pressure, multitasking environment with time‑sensitive deadlines. Strong decision‑making skills and ability to act quickly and well‑reasoned. Proficient in economic reasoning. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Self‑motivated and effective in an operational team setting. Benefits Base salary range: $86,000 – $128,000 per year.
