Project Buyer

BU1 Powertrain and Charging – MAHLE, a global automotive systems supplier with a history of over 100 years, is developing intelligent combustion engines, fuel cells, and e‑mobility technologies. We are recruiting a Project Buyer to support the acquisition of compressors, motors, and pumps. Overview The role reports to the Head of Purchasing within the North American Purchasing Team. You will work closely with Program Management, Engineering, and the Supply Chain teams to prepare material cost estimates, vendor tooling estimates, and support procurement from RFQ through to signed supply agreements. Responsibilities Interface with Product Engineering to understand Bill of Materials and requirements. Send RFQs to bid‑list suppliers, analyze results, and complete the sourcing process for each new part. Negotiate and execute Supply Agreements for each newly sourced part. Track performance against business case numbers and sourcing timelines once the business is awarded. Manage the procurement process from initial RFQ to start of production. Support the Team Lead by providing material cost estimates for components as part of the acquisition process. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain Management from an accredited 4‑year college or university. Preferred experience in Tier‑1 automotive industry. Detailed knowledge of engine component commodity markets. Understanding of cost drivers and market dynamics for engineered component commodities. Benefits Company health insurance.
