Job Title Inspector Department 4520 Reports To Quality Manager Status Full-time Flsa Non-exempt Job Grade Grade Type Indirect WC Code 8810 Job Summary Inspects in process and receiving variations according to specifications on drawing by visual or instrument determination for defects and conformance to machining specifications by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Visually examines and feels the surface of products to detect defects such as mismatched veneer, dents, splits, blemishes, loose and uneven joints, holes and faulty sanding etc. Verifies conformance of products to dimensional specifications and determines causes of deficiencies. Records quantity or material approved and rejected on inspection report. Uses tools such as calibers, micrometers, hardness tester, comparator, surface plate, height gauge, spectrophotometer, torque gauges, ohmmeters, etc. May be required to drive a forklift. Other duties may be assigned. Participate in 6S duties to maintain work areas in safe and organized manner. Uses simple formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specification schedules, or writing diagrams. Key Competencies Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers. Ability to effectively problem-solve using problem solving tools and techniques (A3, fishbone, root cause, 5-Whys). Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. High School diploma and one year tech school or two years of experience related inspection field. Must have solid computer skills including use of Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint. Experience in creating and maintaining spreadsheets for inspection purposes. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Work Environment Must be able to work in an office environment as well as a manufacturing/production shop environment as job duties require. May be exposed to loud operating machinery and cold temperatures.
