Maintenance Tech I

Under direct supervision, performs minor general maintenance related to operations, machinery equipment and automated systems. Entry-level position shadows higher level technicians to understand and execute routine preventative, predictive and maintenance repairs; uses tools of the trade such as multi-meter True RMS, inside/outside calipers, pliers (various), mechanics level, power tools, precision measuring instruments, Allen Wrench Hex Set Standard & Metric, Phillips screwdriver and band shears, L, R & C.

Essential duties and/or responsibilities:

• Checks the operation of machines and assists in trouble-shooting electrical and/or mechanical equipment problems.
• Performs routine preventative and predictive maintenance on machines and equipment.
• Identifies the appropriate machine part for replacement or repair and provides name to Maintenance Administrator for a timely order minimizing production equipment downtime.
• Maintains work orders on a daily and weekly basis. Documents all machine preventative, predictive and/or maintenance repairs clearly and concisely for historical and future maintenance purposes.
• Continues education and/or training by taking a class related to maintenance technicians' job on a continuous basis.
• Drives company vehicles for parts delivery or pick up occasionally.
• Follows safety regulations and adheres to OSHA and Cal OSHA standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum education and/or experience:

• High School Diploma and 0-1 years' directly related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in an automation environment, a plus.

Knowledge, skills and/or abilities:

1. Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic processes and repair methods/techniques.

2. Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, schematics and/or blueprints as well as technical product specifications to understand identify standard manufacturing parts. In addition, must be able to read safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

3. Ability to observe and learn from others in the maintenance of machines as well as ability for continuous learning and application of maintenance techniques/methods.

4. Organize and prioritize work orders while meeting deadlines to minimize production downtime with a high-level of accuracy in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

5. Basic arithmetic functions such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing and use of their applications.

6. Basic ability to deal with problems/issues involving some variation in standardized situations.

7. Work under direct supervision, independently and foster a cooperative spirit within a large and/or small team.

8. Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to execute e-mails, word documents and open power point presentations and use Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) Systems.

9. Must obtain Hydranautics Forklift, Genie Boom and Scissor Lift Certification.

Certificates and/or licenses:

• Electromechanical Certificate, a plus.

Physical demands and/or work environment:

1. This position requires occasional sitting at a desk, up to 3 hours a day, using a computer.

2. Must be able stand/walk frequently up to 6 hours a day to observe machines, conduct rounds, and record log entries.

3. Ability to frequently lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.

4. Ability to occasionally lift items over 100 pounds with assistance and/or mechanical lifting devices.

5. Ability to occasionally lift items overhead up to 50 pounds.

6. Ability to bend and twist at the waist/squat/kneel/crawl/climb occasionally up to 3 hours a day.

7. Ability to push, pull, and reach occasionally, up to 3 hours a day.

8. Ability to deviate wrist (side to side) and conduct hand/wrist repetitions (up and down) occasionally, up to 3 hours a day.

9. Ability to firmly grasp objects with a force greater than 50 pounds.

10. Gross motor hand manipulation of moderate-heavy strength is required to use various tools.

11. Fine hand manipulation of light-moderate strength is required to operate touch screen displays.

12. Must be able to see/focus for close eye work (small figures), discriminate colors, and perceive depths.

13. Must be able to speak/hear verbal communications and respond to machine alarms/buzzers.

14. Subject to periodic exposures to varying temperatures, occasional exposure to noise levels above 85 decibels, gas/fumes/mists, and chemicals or hazardous materials while using personal protective equipment when required.

15. May be exposed to crawl spaces/cramped positions up to 1 hour/day.

16. Must wear safety shoes in required areas.

17. Must be able to work extended hours per the demands of the business.

18. Must possess a valid driver's license and remain qualified as a Driver under the Hydranautics Driver Policy.
