Successful candidates will have a desire to engage a diverse student population in the study of world religions, world mythology, and foundational texts in the history of philosophy. Anticipated courses open for spring semester with a start date of January 11, 2027 include: HUMAN 101 Comparative Religions (MW 8 am, 11 am, TTH 9:30 am, 12:30 pm) HUMAN 201 Humanities Themes: Myth, Reason, God ( TTH 8 am, 11 am) PHILO 101 Introduction to Philosophy ( TTH 9:30 am, 11 am) PHILO 202 Ethics ( TTH 9:30 am, 5 pm) Anticipated Work Hours and Days See Position Summary Salary Salary Salary is commensurate with Adjunct Faculty salary scale N/A Posting Date Posting Date 08/28/2026 Closing Date Open Until Filled Yes Minimum Qualifications

1. Master’s Degree in Humanities, Philosophy, or Literature or a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in a Humanities discipline.
2. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
3. Commitment to the mission of community colleges.
4. Able to teach courses on the Prairie State College Campus.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience teaching a variety of philosophy and humanities courses.
2. Teaching experience at the community college level.
3. Credentialed to teach in the online format.
4. Experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.
5. Graduate work beyond the Master’s.
