Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Day Habilitation ProgramsLocations:Bethpage PWW: Bethpage NY 11714Westbury Site Based: Westbury NY 11590Queens PWW: Richmond Hill NY 11418Status: Full Time and Per DiemSalary: $19.50 – $20.00 per hour Direct Support Professionals are responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment which fosters growth and rehabilitation and facilitates the development of mutual aid/self-help skills among individuals. Staff's primary role is to provide the appropriate supports tailored to the needs and desires of each individual to enable each to live as independently as possible. Direct Support Professionals are expected to recognize when an individual is in a crisis and be able to utilize the appropriate interventions. This position is Non-Exempt. DSPs report directly to the Program Coordinator.Key Responsibilities:Assist/monitor/teach individuals with preparation of daytime activities; encourage good personal hygieneMeet with individuals (as needed) on an individual basis to discuss concerns, problemsSupervise individuals in on and off site activitiesHandle emergency situations appropriatelyUtilize crisis interventions when necessaryComplete required documentationProvide first-aid assistance to all individuals and assist in the follow through on medical needs for individualsAssure individuals follow routinesPerforms any other duties as assigned by the Manager, Asst. Manager, and AdministrationReport suspected abuse & neglect to supervisor immediately (within one hour)Transport individuals to and from community outingsMust hold valid NYS Driver's license for a minimum of three years to be considered for full time positions.Tiegerman is an EEO and AA employer.
