Utility Project Manager

Morgner is seeking an experienced Utility Investigation Coordinator / Utility Field Inspector to support major transportation infrastructure projects in the County of Los Angeles. The successful candidate will coordinate utility investigation activities, oversee field operations, interface with public agencies and utility owners, and document findings that support design and construction efforts. This position is ideal for professionals with experience in utility engineering, subsurface utility investigations (SUE), construction inspection, utility coordination, or civil infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities Coordinate Construction Work Plans (CWPs) and field investigation activities with Metro, local agencies, utility owners, railroads, and other permitting authorities. Support permitting efforts by preparing and processing required documentation. Coordinate schedules with project teams, contractors, agencies, and stakeholders. Oversee traffic control implementation and field utility investigation activities. Perform utility field investigations, including utility tracing, potholing, hydro-vac excavation, and field verification. Evaluate field conditions to identify utility type, alignment, depth, connectivity, and apparent operational status. Document field observations and prepare reports for project teams and clients. Coordinate restoration activities following utility investigations. Maintain accurate project documentation and support project closeout activities. Participate in project meetings and provide technical support during planning and construction. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in utility coordination, construction inspection, civil construction, utility engineering, or subsurface utility engineering (SUE). Experience working on transportation, transit, highway, railroad, or public infrastructure projects. Knowledge of utility locating, potholing, hydro-vac excavation, and utility investigation practices. Experience coordinating with public agencies, utility owners, and permitting authorities. Ability to interpret engineering plans and utility record drawings. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office and construction documentation. Valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting Metro, Caltrans, LAWA, Port of Los Angeles, or other public agencies. Familiarity with SUE Quality Levels (ASCE 38). Experience coordinating traffic control operations. OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification.
