Role Overview

As a Pharm Tech-Inpatient Advance Drug Therapy, you will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to process orders for medications that require special handling, preparation, and accountability. Your expertise in safely managing these medications is crucial to ensuring patient safety and supporting the pharmacy team in delivering high-quality care.

What You Will Do

• Process orders for medications requiring special handling, preparation, and accountability.
• Safely handle and manipulate cytotoxic and other special drugs, including working aseptically in a vertical flow hood environment.
• Maintain Investigational Drug Research Records and validate doses using Investigational Drug Protocols.
• Manage pharmacy inventory, including lifting, carrying, stocking, and delivering prescriptions to nursing units.
• Develop or modify departmental protocols for medications requiring special handling, in consultation with a supervising pharmacist.

Qualifications

Required

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Valid Pharmacy Technician license from the State of Michigan.
• At least one year of experience as a Hospital Pharmacy Technician and/or Retail Pharmacy Technician (retail experience applies only to medication history positions).
• Ability to maintain records and perform calculations.
• Ability to use a computer keyboard and type approximately 25 WPM.

Preferred

Qualifications

• Experience with cytotoxic drug handling.
• Familiarity with Investigational Drug Protocols.
