Food Service Specialist - IDEA Rundberg (26-27)

Role Mission The Food Service Specialist ensures appropriate quantities of food are prepared, portioned, and served to IDEA students while maintaining kitchen standards and monitoring student behavior during meal periods. Responsibilities Prepare and portion meals, following recipes and kitchen processes. Cut and chop fruits and vegetables; handle kitchen equipment and tools. Monitor students during meal periods, encouraging nutrition and maintaining appropriate behavior. Maintain cleanliness: sweeping, mopping, wiping tables, washing dishes, disposing of trash. Restock supplies and reset the kitchen for the next day. Work flexible hours, including academic breaks, Saturdays, and occasional overtime. Competencies Understand food recipes, safe handling, and sanitation practices. Basic math skills for portioning and inventory. Work under pressure, lift, bend, and move equipment. Adapt quickly when job tasks change. Good communication and teamwork. Qualifications High school diploma (preferred but not required). 1+ year of physical activity / on‑feet role experience. Ability to lift, bend, and move cafeteria tables and waste. Food Handler’s Permit is preferred. Benefits Compensation ranges from $15.90 to $18.29 per hour, plus performance bonus based on team goals.
