Head Teller

The head teller is responsible for the supervision of the teller area, performing all teller functions while solving problems and helping with complex work-related matters. The head teller guides and advises tellers in the efficient handling of member needs and is subject to review and/or audit on a no-notice basis by management, the Supervisory Committee, auditors, and/or Federal Examiners. Schedule Monday 7:15 AM – 5:00 PM Friday 7:15 AM – 5:00 PM Saturday 7:15 AM – 12:00 PM (Hours will vary between these times) Salary Range $18.00 – $20.00 hourly Equal Opportunity Employer / Veterans / Disabled Responsibilities Supervise the activities of the teller operations area by assigning work, answering questions, solving problems, helping with complex transactions, sensitive member relations problems, and explaining policies and procedures to members. Supervise teller line operations. Serve as a mentor to tellers, leading through a positive example of professional conduct, and ensuring that tellers are following all credit union policies and procedures. Maintain the vault, including vault security and balancing. Ensure teller line security; maintain security policies and equipment. Manage cash, ensuring sufficient supply to meet business demands while staying within guidelines and cash limits prescribed in Board Policy 7.01. Prove daily ATM deposits, balance daily ATM cash, replenish ATM cash weekly or as needed, and post associated general ledger transactions. Redeposit, collect, or supervise the collection of NSF checks and make proper general ledger entries. File CTRs. Perform monthly teller audits according to Teller Procedures and maintain the bait log. Perform normal teller duties, including receiving checks and cash for deposit, verifying amounts, examining checks for endorsements, accepting loan payments, credit card payments, processing cash advances and account withdrawals. Provide information to members regarding credit union products that meet their needs and cross‑sell these services and products whenever possible. Answer members’ questions regarding account balances, transactions, etc. and refer major problems or research to the appropriate department. Answer the telephone and transfer calls professionally. Balance the cash drawer daily and maintain the Teller Balance Record in accordance with Teller Procedure 3.17. Understand the Bank Secrecy Act and complete currency transaction form #4789 when required. Perform all duties in compliance with established credit union quality standards. Keep current knowledge of all services and products and cross‑sell whenever possible. Display a pleasant, professional style and follow guidelines in the company’s policy manual, including the Code of Ethics, dress code, and attendance areas. Complete all training designed to enhance capabilities, including in‑house training and outside seminars, workshops, etc. Acquire and maintain the necessary, working knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and credit union bylaws and policies. Assist with preparing work schedules and assigning duties to ensure efficient operation of the teller department. Train new tellers. Perform other duties as assigned.
