Job Description

This role focuses on safely and efficiently moving materials throughout a modern, temperature-controlled production and warehouse environment. You will operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts, support both production and shipping activities, and ensure products are accurately staged, wrapped, and prepared for on-time shipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts to move materials to and from production lines, warehouses, and docks in a safe and efficient manner.

• Gather materials from inventory and deliver them to designated production lines according to schedule and work orders.

• Transport finished goods from production lines to docks and from docks back to inventory as needed.

• Stage, stack, and securely wrap pallets to prepare products for storage or shipment.

• Load and unload trucks using forklifts and other material handling equipment while following safety and quality standards.

• Use RF scanners to accurately track, pick, and record inventory movements and transactions.

• Support both production and warehouse/shipping areas, spending approximately half of the time in each environment.

• Prepare products for shipment by ensuring correct labeling, packaging, and pallet configuration.

• Lift, sort, count, and organize products and materials to maintain an orderly and efficient workflow.

• Perform repetitive motions and tasks associated with packaging, picking, and material handling while maintaining focus on safety and quality.

• Assist with general labor tasks related to material handling, including batch-related staging and organizing supplies.

• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including proper use of equipment and adherence to facility rules.

Essential Skills

• At least 2+ years of experience operating a sit-down forklift.

• At least 2+ years of experience operating a stand-up forklift (for Alsip location).

• Proficiency using RF scanners for inventory tracking and material movement.

• Demonstrated experience loading and unloading trucks using forklifts.

• Hands-on material handling experience, including lifting, sorting, counting, wrapping, and staging products.

• Ability to perform repetitive motions safely and consistently throughout the shift.

• Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to support both production and warehouse/shipping operations.

• Reliable work ethic with the ability to work a full 1st shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Background in chemical, oil, or food manufacturing environments is a plus.

• Previous experience with packaging, picking, packing, and batch-related work is beneficial.

• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

• Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.

• Strong focus on safety and organization in all material handling activities.

Work Environment

This position is on 1st shift, working approximately 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. You will split your time between the production floor and the warehouse/shipping areas. Facilities are temperature controlled and use forklifts, RF scanners, kettles, fillers, blenders, and other production and material handling equipment. One site is a modern, very clean, and recently remodeled facility with a smaller workforce of roughly 10–15 people on 1st shift and fewer on 2nd shift. It is highly organized, with a strong focus on safety and inventory control. Another site is larger, with a few hundred employees across shifts, more lines, and higher production volume, which can feel fast-paced and dynamic. It features multiple break rooms and security checkpoints at the entrance. Both locations handle non-harmful chemicals and follow consistent operations that include manufacturing, bottling, staging, and shipping products. Dress expectations align with a production and warehouse environment, emphasizing safety and practicality.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Alsip, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.25 - $18.35/hr.
