In this role, you'll do much more than process claims. You'll help ensure the financial sustainability of services that make a real difference in our community by overseeing billing operations, supporting your team, and identifying opportunities to improve revenue cycle performance.

What You'll Do

As the Billing Coordinator, you'll supervise the Billing Team and oversee billing processes for

• Open Card
• Coordinated Care Organizations (CCOs)
• Medicare
• Commercial insurance
• Private pay services

You'll serve as a key resource for billing operations, helping to ensure claims are accurate, timely, and reimbursed appropriately.

Billing System Oversight

• Implement and maintain billing contracts in coordination with the Practice Manager
• Serve as a liaison with Oregon Health Plan regarding billing and service requirements
• Maintain billing systems, fee schedules, CPT/HCPCS codes, covered diagnoses, and prior authorization requirements
• Prepare month-end billing reports
• Monitor and reconcile billing denial lists
• Identify revenue leakage and recommend solutions
• Develop and maintain billing-related standard operating procedures

Claims Processing

• Verify insurance eligibility and update records
• Communicate eligibility changes to appropriate staff
• Obtain missing claim information from providers
• Submit, track, reconcile, research, and re-bill claims as needed
• Analyze denials, identify trends, and submit appeals and reconsiderations
• Follow up on unpaid claims and work toward timely resolution
• Maintain aging claims performance goals
• Update payment information and process secondary claims

Team Leadership

• Supervise, train, and support Billing Team staff
• Conduct performance evaluations and coaching
• Delegate work assignments and monitor productivity
• Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable work environment

Qualifications We're Looking For

• Experience with medical insurance billing and revenue cycle management
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid/OHP, and commercial insurance billing practices
• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Proficiency with billing systems, computer applications, and electronic documentation
• Understanding of HIPAA confidentiality requirements
• Commitment to accuracy, compliance, and customer service

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• 3 years’ experience in medical claims billing, including payment analysis, research, denial resolution, and collections
• Documentation of successful completion of a background and fingerprint check as specified by Oregon law, as well as a urinalysis drug screen
• Preferred
• Experience with Medicaid/OHP benefits
• Experience in supervising staff or in a leadership role
