About the Position

License: Current RN License Certifications: - Current Basic Life Support certification Must-Have: - Excellent IV skills - Ability to instill prescribed pupil-dilating drops - Experience in recovering phase 1 PACU patients - Skills in managing airways and addressing pain or nausea in patients aged 6 months to 95 years - ACLS and PALS certification - Familiarity with surgical eye cases (cataracts, cornea, retina, glaucoma, plastics) - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and embrace teamwork Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Notes all changes in physician orders regarding assigned patients. Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients. Observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with patients and families to share care plans while in the facility and at discharge. Informs patients and families of facility procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures is required. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques is essential. Must maintain good working relationships with other employees. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Ability to respond effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors is important. Some computer skills are required. Education: Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program. Preferred: Bachelor of Science or higher in Nursing from a board-approved program.
