Corporate Occupational Risk & Compliance Manager (North America)

Your mission

Safeguard people and operations by architecting a proactive safety system that meets the letter of the law and the expectations of our customers. You’ll orchestrate the QES program, align cross-functional partners, and turn data into decisions across North American operations.

First 90 days: what success looks like

1. Stabilize: Assess each site’s safety maturity, confirm OSHA logs and Injury Tracking Application status, and map current DART/EMR trends.
2. Standardize: Refresh core written programs, update customer-facing safety documentation, and streamline ISNetworld/Veriforce/Avetta profiles.
3. Mobilize: Launch a calendar of orientations, toolbox talks, and targeted training (forklifts, overhead cranes, emergency preparedness, active shooter, and COVID-related content). Stand up an equipment preventive maintenance program and ensure vehicle/forklift maintenance accountability.

Core responsibilitiesRegulatory excellence

• Steward corporate safety policies and procedures; align with OSHA and relevant federal, state, and provincial rules.
• Maintain OSHA recordables, DART, lost workday metrics, EMR, and injury statistics.
• Manage OSHA 300/300A logs, establishment reporting, and ITA submissions.
• Coordinate inspections, voluntary audits, complaint responses, citations, and corrective action plans.
• Champion OSHA Safety Week programs in the U.S. and Canada.

Customer confidence

• Administer third-party platforms (ISNetworld, Veriforce, Avetta).
• Turn around customer safety audits, questionnaires, and urgent compliance requests.
• Keep customer-specific policies, certifications, and training documentation current online.
• Provide Certificates of Insurance, workers’ comp documentation, and required safety records.
• Deliver new hire orientations in person and via Microsoft Teams.
• Publish weekly/monthly safety talks, quizzes, handouts, and learning resources.
• Manage DISA compliance training and the Drug & Alcohol Program.
• Run PPE reimbursement initiatives for equipment, work boots, and safety glasses.
• Develop facility safety checklists, safety booklets, and acknowledgment forms.

Incident response and risk reduction

• Lead the occupational injury/illness prevention program.
• Coordinate workers’ compensation claims, open cases with carriers, manage leave, and conduct investigations.
• Partner with HR, Benefits, Operations, and insurers on return-to-work strategies.
• Handle reporting and communications with AIG/Horton and Travelers Insurance.
• Oversee motor vehicle reporting/monitoring and accident investigations.
• Advance emergency preparedness, disaster recovery planning, and communications for major events.
• Consult on nuclear-related insurance and policy topics with brokers and stakeholders.
• Support environmental compliance and respond to customer environmental questionnaires.

Influence and enablement

• Serve as the industrial safety advisor to Operations Managers and leadership teams.
• Conduct routine safety meetings, facility assessments, audits, and quarterly site visits.
• Co-create employee safety and compliance policies with Corporate HR.
• Answer ad hoc safety, regulatory, and employee-related questions.
• Present safety metrics and insights in company meetings.

QualificationsRequired

• Bachelor’s in Occupational Safety/EHS or related field preferred.
• 5+ years in corporate safety/EHS within multi-site manufacturing or industrial settings.
• Strong command of OSHA, workers’ compensation, and safety compliance.
• Experience with ISNetworld or comparable contractor systems.
• Skilled in incident tracking, OSHA reporting, EMR management, and analytics.
• Excellent communication, organization, and project management.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and virtual training tools.
• Ability to travel periodically throughout North America.

Preferred

• OSHA 30 and/or OSHA 500/510.
• CSP, ASP, CHST, or equivalent certifications.
• Experience partnering with insurance carriers, brokers, and claims teams.

Additional proficiencies
