Patient Accounts Representative
The Patient Accounts Representative is responsible for managing patient billing accounts from admission through final resolution. This role ensures accurate billing, timely follow-up with insurance companies and patients, and excellent customer service while maintaining compliance with hospital policies, payer guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate degree or coursework in healthcare administration, business, or a related field preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in hospital billing, patient accounts, or revenue cycle preferred
- Experience with commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of hospital billing processes and revenue cycle operations
- Familiarity with insurance guidelines, claim forms, and denial management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple accounts efficiently
- Proficiency with hospital billing systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of HIPAA and EMTALA guidelines
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, if applicable
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods
- Ability to use a computer, telephone, and standard office equipment
- Occasional standing or walking as needed
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
