Senior Property Accountant

MHW Search has exclusively partnered with a well-established Development/Brokerage firm in Houston that has transacted on over $9 billion in real estate historically. We are seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join their growing Retail Accounting team. This is an outstanding opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys owning the full accounting cycle while gaining exposure to a diverse retail portfolio in a highly collaborative environment. This team works collectively across approximately 130 commercial retail properties, providing broad exposure to every aspect of property accounting. The ideal candidate will have commercial property accounting experience and enjoy working cross-functionally with property managers, landlords, lenders, and internal stakeholders. Responsabilities Own the full-cycle accounting process for a portfolio of commercial retail properties. Prepare and complete annual CAM/NNN reconciliations, including insurance and real estate tax reconciliations. Process full-cycle accounts payable, including vendor invoices, ACH payments, wire transfers, and payment research. Prepare monthly financial statements, journal entries, trial balances, rent rolls, aged receivables, and month-end close activities. Manage tenant improvement (TI), leasing commission (LC), and CAPEX reserve draw requests with lenders. Monitor lender reserve balances and coordinate funding requests and wire disbursements. Assist with bank account reconciliations, cash management, transfers, and loan servicing requests. Partner closely with property managers, leasing teams, lenders, and third-party landlords to support day-to-day accounting operations. Support internal and external audit requests while maintaining accurate financial records. Utilize Yardi and/or Rent Manager to maintain property accounting records and generate financial reporting. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiencies. Qualifications & Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. 3+ years of commercial property accounting experience. Experience performing CAM reconciliations and full-cycle property accounting. Strong understanding of accounts payable, financial reporting, month-end close, and general ledger accounting. Experience working with lender reserve draws, tenant improvement (TI), and CAPEX funding is highly preferred. Experience using Yardi and/or Rent Manager preferred. Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working across departments. #J-18808-Ljbffr
